About me
Hi, I am Jan Kohlhoff, a trained carpenter from Bremen, Germany.
Following the completion of my apprenticeship and gaining two additional years of experience in the field, I moved to Aachen to study at the „Academy of craft design Gut Rosenberg“. Presently, I am engaged in a dual apprenticeship program aimed at attaining qualifications as a designer (HWK) and a master carpenter.
My goal is to influence the world through design – I see great potential in products and the industry. This passion drives me, and I strive to contribute to a more sustainable future.
For me, design means combining function, emotion, usability and materiality. As a carpenter, perfect craftsmanship and durability of the product are a prerequisite for every design. I place great importance on ensuring that my designs are intuitive and self-explanatory. I am convinced that good design is the result of collaboration and teamwork. I particularly enjoy seeing how a product is realized together with other skilled people in their respective fields.
